Sprint’s Curiosity IoT service to power Dynamics’ Wallet Card

The developer of the internet-connected card Dynamics Inc. will use Sprint’s Curiosity internet-of-things service to power the over-the-air device management and intelligent data capabilities of its Wallet Card.

Curiosity’s IoT-dedicated network and purpose-engineered operating system will enable the management of millions of Wallet Cards remotely. Connectivity will permit a number of new security features.

“Dynamics Wallet Card connected by Curiosity IoT will shape the way individuals think about making purchases and managing multiple accounts, using a single digital card,” commented Ivo Rook, senior vice president of IoT & product development at Sprint, in the press release.

The first joint application of the Wallet Card and Curiosity IoT will be with UAE-based bank Emirates NBD. Launch timing details were not provided.

"With the [Dynamics] Wallet Card powered by Sprint Curiosity IoT, our customers will soon be able to subscribe to new cards and manage their existing ones with unprecedented levels of choice, flexibility, and security never offered before in the UAE," stated Suvo Sarkar, senior executive vice president & group head of retail banking & wealth management at Emirates NBD in the press release.

The Dynamics Wallet Card was unveiled in January 2018 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas The Wallet Card is a fully digital technology platform that is the same size as a regular credit card. In having an internet connection, banks can digitally issue new card account numbers to a Wallet Card holder in case an account is comprised or the issuer desires to upgrade a customer.

According to Crunchbase, a website that tracks investments in private companies, Dynamics Inc. has raised more the $110 million in capital over three funding rounds since 2009. Investors include Mastercard, Bain Capital Ventures, CIBC Capital Partners and Adams Capital Management.
