The button, which is still in testing, enables consumers to purchase items in advertisements or posts on Facebook, according to the report. Stripe and Facebook were not immediately available for comment.

Stripe, which provides technology that allows companies to build a user interface to accept payments, has won a number of recent similar partnerships. It's helping to power Twitter's "buy" button and also works with Alipay. Stripe recently began supporting Bitcoin payments as well.

Facebook has been building in-app payments for some time, and has also worked with Braintree to provide developer tools for startups to build apps that run on the social network. Braintree is a unit of eBay's PayPal.

Facebook also recently hired former PayPal President David Marcus to run Facebook's messaging service.
