SIX Multipay AG says it will start acquiring and processing Diners Club and Discover credit card transactions in January, the Switzerland-based payment-services provider says in a statement. The service applies to Swiss merchants. SIX Multipay already acquires and processes transactions for Visa, MasterCard and JCB credit cards, along with Visa's Electron and V Pay and MasterCard's Maestro debit cards. Some 40,000 consumers in Switzerland have Diners Club cards, the Swiss firm says. Similar details about Discover were not immediately available. "Merchants who choose to activate Diners Club will automatically also accept the Discover card at the same conditions," the Swiss firm says in a statement. Earlier this year, SIX Multipay said the agreement covering the acceptance of the new cards will last at least five years (CardLine Global, 24 March).
