Swiss Venture Debuts SwissWallet with MasterPass

A Swiss joint venture plans to release SwissWallet for online shopping this month, partnering with MasterCard for use of its digital wallet, MasterPass.

Payment terminal and card product vendor Aduno Group, software developer Netcetera and card provider Swisscard say they have developed the SwissWallet specifically for the Swiss credit card industry.

The SwissWallet software will operate on any tablet or smartphone, the venture stated in a Nov. 5 press release.

As a white-label product, issuers and other card payment companies will be able to attach their brands to the wallet.

The group plans to launch the SwissWallet for mobile and contactless payments in brick-and-mortar businesses in the second half of 2016.

Swisscard AECS AG is a Zurich-based joint venture of Credit Suisse AG and American Express.

MasterCard has recently added tokenization to MasterPass, which is available now in 24 markets.
