Taiwan had a total of 31.24 million credit cards in circulation at the end of September, down 10.6% from the 34.9 million credit cards it had in force in September 2008, data from the Financial Supervisory Commission revealed. Purchases made by credit cards stood at NT$116.4 (US$3.6 million & 2.4 million euros) up 3.2% from the NT$112.8 billion in purchases in September 2008, according to the data. However, cash advances in September 2009 stood at NT$3 billion, down 68.8% from NT$9.6 billion in September 2008. Revolving credit loans in September 2009 amounted to NT$216.4 billion, down 18.7% year-on-year from NT$266.2 billion, the data revealed. Taiwan's credit card delinquency ratio for September 2009 stood at 1.09%, down 68 percentage points from September 2008 when it stood at 1.77%.
