Unveiling a strategy to increase sales during the country's economic recession, Triton Systems of Delaware Inc., one of the nation's largest ATM manufacturers, is for the first time in company history offering a $500 rebate to its target market of community banks and credit unions that buy its FT7000 through-the-wall ATM. "We're offering this rebate to give our customers an incentive to buy," Mark Smith, Triton senior manager, told CardLine sister publication ATM & Debit News Tuesday at the ATM Industry Association conference in Nashville, Tenn. "This is a pretty good discount. … It is reasonable. This rebate will help us engage with the customer." The FT7000 is one of Long Beach, Miss.-based Triton most-expensive ATMs, costing between $25,000 and $28,000. Triton can equip the machine to accept envelope-free deposits. Because representatives of community banks and credit unions generally do not attend the ATM Industry Association show, Triton is displaying the machine there to train its distributors, Smith says. The ATM maker, however, will display the ATM at trade shows this year where credit unions and banks are represented, he says. Triton's rebate offer ends Dec. 31, Smith says.
