Last week in Philadelphia three men were charged with providing Ruby Tuesday's restaurant employees with credit card skimmers, which resulted in the manufacture of counterfeit cards used to make illegal purchases.

The three men allegedly hired the waitresses and employees at Philadelphia hotels and retail stores to steal customers' card information, according to an indictment handed down by a federal grand jury.

Some of the items they purchased with the counterfeit cards they kept for themselves and some they used to pay their co-conspirators for their involvement, reports Credit Union Journal, a Collections & Credit Risk sister publication.

The counterfeit cards were used to steal funds from accounts at Diamond Credit Union, Freedom Federal Credit Union, Navy Federal Credit Union, Philadelphia Federal Credit Union and about a dozen banks, according to the grand jury indictment.
