TruBeacon Launches Multi-Location App for Clover Mini

Following up on First Data's launch of the Clover Mini mobile point of sale device, TruBeacon has placed software in the Clover App Market that will link data from the payment terminal over a network of multiple retail locations.

The "TruBeacon in the Clover" app allows chain stores or franchises to handle one-click pricing updates, menu changes and reports for one store, a group of stores or an entire chain.

First Data first launched the larger tablet-based Clover Station payment terminal in 2013, then added Clover Mobile to enable merchants to move Clover Station onto sales floors and other settings. The Clover Mini, launched this week, is a smaller portable point of sale device than Clover Station that can still be used as a full payment terminal.

Merchants may choose the Clover Mini as a straightforward way to upgrade to EMV-chip card security and mobile payments, said Philip Philliou, president of TruBeacon.

"We have worked with First Data on this for a long time, and the timing [of terminal updating] is why this is pretty significant," Philliou said.

First Data's Clover App Market provides merchants with various third-party software to better manage their terminals and businesses.

Omaha, Neb.-based TruBeacon formed a year ago at the Innovation Accelerator at Omaha's Scott Technology Center through the National Innovation Fund.
