China UnionPay Data Services Co. Ltd. agreed to process Citi China's debit card transactions under a deal Total System Services Inc. announced this week. Total System Services, also known as TSYS, is a Columbus, Ga.-based processor that operates China UnionPay Data Services with China UnionPay, a China-based payments organization. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Citi China began issuing debit cards this summer. Cardholders can use those debit cards at China UnionPay terminals and at Citibank ATMs in more than 30 nations, TSYS says. China UnionPay Data Services will process those debit transactions, a TSYS spokesperson tells CardLine. TSYS says China UnionPay Data Services has similar card-processing agreements with more than 50 banks in China.
