TSYS plans to shutter tech centers as part of restructuring

TSYS will reportedly close information technology facilities in Boise, Idaho and Golden, Colo., a move that could eliminate several dozen jobs, according to the Ledger-Enquirer, a local paper near the processor's Columbus, Ga., headquarters.

The newspaper reported the closings would eliminate 64 jobs. TSYS confirmed the closings, but did not elaborate on the jobs impacted.

"These moves are part of a continued effort to bring clarity and focus to our business model, " TSYS spokesman Cyle Mims said in an email to PaymentsSource. "One of our priorities is to identify our ideal operating structure in order to maximize efficiencies and scale of operations."

TSYS employs about 11,500 employees, including 1,000 who joined from TSYS' $2.35 billion acquisition of TransFirst.

That acquisition is part of a broader effort to expandsTSYS' range of products to accommodate the growth of mobile payments, e-commerce and omnichannel shopping and payments.
