TSYS will apply ProphIT to retail duo's store accounts [Birmingham Post (UK)]

Outsourcing services provider TSYS, which has a large operation in Coventry, has signed a multi-year agreement to service the private-label storecards of Argos and Homebase.

The two retailers, part of the

Home Retail Group

, offer customers the ability to apply for store credit through in-store, phone and internet options.

They have around one million account holders.

Home Retail's

managing director for financial services,

Greg Ball

, said TSYS had been chosen to service the accounts following an extensive evaluation.

"TSYS was chosen over other potential service providers because of the power of TSYS's workflow tool - ProphIT, and the ability of TSYS to support our future business strategy," he said.

TSYS Europe's managing director,

Kelley Knutson

, said servicing the needs of the retail market was one of the principle aims of the business.

"The agreement with Argos and Homebase is a testament to our answering the needs of this market," she said.

Terms of the agreement have not been disclosed but include customer account management, payment processing and customer care, with the conversion of existing accounts scheduled for 2009.

TSYS is one of the world's largest companies for outsourced payment services. It provides a broad range of customer support services in the fields of consumer-finance, credit, debit, healthcare, loyalty cards and prepaid.

Customers include financial institutions and retail companies in the Americas,

Europe

, the

Middle East

and

Asia

. The 31,000 sq ft TSYS centre opened on the

Binley Business Park

earlier this year at a cost of pounds 8 million. The centre, which has created 300 jobs, handles all of Nationwide's one million credit card accounts.
