United States-based VeriFone Holdings Inc. says it has supplied readers that enable commuters in Turkey to use chip cards to pay bus fares. Buses in the city of Kahramanmaras, in southeastern Turkey, now have MX870 readers from VeriFone, the terminal vendor says in a statement. Turkey-based Bank Asya is issuing cards commuters can use on the buses, VeriFone says. The cards include those enabled with the MasterCard Worldwide's PayPass contactless application. Bank Asya recently began to issue multiapplication chip-and-PIN MasterCards that consumers can use to pay tolls and transit fares. The readers on the bus can process EMV transactions, VeriFone says.
