Two major retail chains in Australia recently announced deals to accept contactless cards by the end of this year.
McDonald’s Australia will accept contactless payments in 816 of the fast-food chain’s outlets across the country. Also, 7-Eleven Australia says it plans to provide 400 of its stores with contactless smart card readers.
Customers of both retailers will be able to make purchases up to AU$100 (US$98 or 72 euros) by tapping their cards against the merchants’ terminals.
Executives from both retailers were not immediately available to comment.
