Consumers can use PayPal from their Uber app in Canada, Greece, Hong Kong, Israel, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, Sweden and Switzerland, Uber announced on its website.  Uber and PayPal's other markets include Australia, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, the U.K. and the U.S.

Uber uses other options in markets such as India, where it uses Paytm—an in-app payment system—and China, where it uses Alipay and the Baidu Wallet.

PayPal also supports Beck, the recently launched Uber rival in Toronto.

Uber has faced some challenges, including allegations of surge pricing, driver misconduct, lax security and leadership issues.

Despite the controversy, Uber is popular with payment companies. The ride sharing service has also entered partnerships with Google, American Express, and Capital One.
