Almost one-third of credit cardholders in the United Kingdom say their annual interest rates have increased over the past 12 months, according to a poll commissioned by Moneysupermarket.com, a financial-comparison Web site based in the UK. The poll sought responses from 2,018 British adults. Thirty-one percent reported higher annual percentage rates over the past year, the service says in a statement. Twenty-seven percent of respondents said they did not know if their card-interest rates had increased over the past year. UK credit cardholders also are facing higher interest rates for cash advances taken from ATMs, according to MoneyExpert.com, another British Web site that offers financial-comparison information. The site says the average annual percentage rate for ATM cash advances has increased to 25.3% from 23.7% in June and from 21.27% in November 2006.
