UnionPay has partnered with more than 20 commercial banks to launch its QuickPass mobile wallet service in Beijing.
QuickPass supports Near Field Communication, host card emulation and tokenization technologies. Android smartphones with NFC functions can create a QuickPass card, which will allow the smartphone to be used in tap-and-go payments. No app or Internet connection is needed when making a purchase at a terminal that supports QuickPass.
Consumers who use QuickPass can also make online payments through UnionPay Online Payment, without the need for text-message verification.
QuickPass is available at more than 10,000 retail locations in mainland China, including chains such as Carrefour, McDonalds and FamilyMart.
