Payment processor Vantiv Inc. now offers EMV testing software for U.S. merchants to use to validate the steps of their acceptance of chip-based payment cards.
Vantiv partnered with EMV testing tools provider ICC Solutions to develop Viable, which will give Vantiv's processing clients more control over the migration process leading up to the card brands' October 2015 deadline. At that date, companies not prepared to handle EMV cards will see a shift in fraud liability.
Merchants can test their EMV system through Viable, which will facilitate certifications for Vantiv merchants, the Cincinnati-based processor states in a June 19 press release.
Vantiv also plans to host a "bicoastal training road show for merchants and partners in the coming months," says Patty Walters, senior vice president of EMV corporate strategy at Vantiv, in the release.

Adding EMV to a merchant's integrated payment system "can be a significantly complex process," says Dave Maisey, chief executive of ICC Solutions, in the release.
Because only 327 business days remain before the liability shift, merchants are quickly running out of time to validate their systems, Maisey says. "Viable will save merchants time, money and headaches by offering a significantly improved process in one easy to use tool," Maisey adds.
