VeriFone Holdings Inc. has named Clinton Knowles as its interim chief financial officer following the resignation of Barry Zwarenstein, who held that position since 2004 (CardLine, 4/2). The change is one of many made by the San Jose, Calif.-based point-of-sale terminal maker in the wake of an audit of its financial results for the first three quarters of 2007 released yesterday. VeriFone says Knowles, who has been chief financial officer, controller and treasurer for several other companies, will fill in while VeriFone searches for a long-term replacement. Douglas G. Bergeron, VeriFone CEO, told analysts during a conference call yesterday the company continues to work voluntarily with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission by sharing the results of the audit and related documents. "We're cooperating and continue to cooperate in every respect," Bergeron said.
