Virtual Piggy's Oink to Support Payments for Smilegate

Virtual Piggy's Oink, a payment platform for teens, will become a payment option for users of  Smilegate, a Korean gaming company.

The agreement applies to purchases made on Smilegate's game library, which includes the popular peer-to-peer game CrossFire.

"It allows us the opportunity to further extend our reach to provide secure payment options for fans of video games," said Jo Webber, Virtual Piggy's chief executive, in an Aug. 8 press release.

The partnership expands Virtual Piggy's presence in the market for young gamers. The company in March began providing its parental-control payment system to the European Games Group, which includes approximately 16 million players worldwide.

Virtual Piggy is also in the process of adapting its online payment system for use in stores.
