Visa Checkout adds Walmart and other new merchants

Walmart still has no Near Field Communication technology to support mobile payments in its 4,000-plus U.S. stores, but it’s added Visa Checkout as an e-commerce option, joining many new merchants that now support Visa’s streamlined checkout process.

Visa Checkout now has more than 300,000 merchants supporting it including newcomers Marriott, HSN, Cole Haan, Alaska Airlines, Avis Budget and Sam’s Club, along with Walmart, Visa said in an April 5 press release.

The total number of consumers enrolled in Visa Checkout globally is now 20 million, Visa said in the release.
