Visa Inc. reportedly has cancelled a plan to raise credit card interchange rates in South Korea because of opposition from issuers, the Chosun Ilbo newspaper reported Thursday. Visa reportedly wanted to raise the rate to 1.2% of the sale from 1%. Neither the local arm of Visa nor merchant or issuer groups in South Korea responded to CardLine Global requests for comment. United States-based Visa reportedly has a 70% share of South Korea's credit card market.
