Visa Inc. is planning to hire 2,000 employees to strengthen its technology strategy.
These technology jobs will be a combination of new positions and existing contractor positions that will be converted to full-time roles, the card network said in a Sept. 24 press release. For the next three years, Visa will recruit professional technologists who specialize as data scientists, engineers, platform architects and mobile developers.
The company wants to grow its business in India and Singapore, as well as in the U.S. cities of San Francisco, Denver, Austin and Ashburn, Va.
Furthermore, Visa is opening a new technology center in India next year. Teams at this facility will focus on the development of application programming interfaces and software development kits that help Visa partners access VisaNet. The first set of these developer tools will be released before the end of this year, according to the release.
Visa has recently rolled out several new initiatives as it shifts more attention to electronic and mobile payments. Over the summer, the company
