Visa Inc.'s launch of Visa Mobile on the Android mobile-operating system is one example of how the company wants to enhance the payment experience in developed nations such as the United States and Canada, according to Stacey Pinkerd, Visa head of global debit products. Over the past two years, Visa has "actively engaged" with different players in the mobile-banking space "to develop and test innovative mobile services and ensure those services are secure, scalable and deliver value to all stakeholders," Pinkerd says. Visa believes mobile phones will help it deliver more credit, debit and prepaid products to such developing nations as Brazil, India and China. "Visa views the mobile device as a potential leapfrog technology, enabling us to deliver electronic payments" and funds-transfer services, Pinkerd says.
