MasterCard, which is headquartered in Purchase, N.Y., launched Simplify Commerce last year. The platform allows merchants accept mobile payments from all major credit cards. It also includes invoicing and expense management functions for business owners.

"Backed by the strong reputation and trust of the MasterCard brand, we believe Simply Commerce delivers a safe, simple and secure way to facilitate payments for our merchants and their customers," said David Brown, Web.com's chairman and chief executive, in an Aug. 13 press release.

The Jacksonville, Fla.-based vendor will offer Simplify Commerce to its more than 3.2 million small-business customers. The companies have previously worked together to promote MasterPass, MasterCard's digital wallet. MasterCard credits the Web.com deal for enabling tens of thousands of merchants to use MasterPass.
