In responding to advancements in digital payments and consumer tech-savviness, Western Union has launched WU Connect to link its global money transfer services to messaging and social media platforms.
WU Connect enables third parties to offer transfers through debit or credit cards or a bank account. Western Union will work with global messaging, social and other digital networks to integrate the WU Connect platform, the company said in an Oct. 26 press release.
The platform offers various application interfaces with the Western Union infrastructure to bring fast deployment of domestic and cross-border remittance.
"This puts Western Union in a position to extend its digital platform to networks whose users are looking for more convenient ways to send and receive money globally on a platform of their choice," David Thompson, executive vice president of global operations and technology, and chief technology officer, stated in the release.
