Germany-based Wincor Nixdorf AG, the world's second-largest ATM manufacturer based on 2007 worldwide shipments, on Tuesday reported net sales of 2.32 billion euros (US$2.99 billion) for the fiscal year ended 30 Sept., up 7.9% from 2.15 billion euros for the same period last year. In July, Eckard Heidloff, the manufacturer's president and CEO, predicted Wincor Nixdorf would achieve 8% growth in annual sales despite a deteriorating business climate worldwide. The company reported a profit of 127 million euros for the 2008 fiscal year, up 16.5% from 109 million euros for the same period last year. In Germany, net sales increased 2.8%, to 588 million euros from 572 million euros. In other parts of Europe, net sales increased 8%, to 1.22 billion euros from 1.13 billion euros. Sales to the Asia-Pacific region and Africa increased 18.8%, to 329 million euros from 277 million euros. Sales to the Americas increased 12%, to 187 million euros from 167 million euros.
