Wincor Nixdorf USA, which is owned by Germany-based Wincor Nixdorf AG, Tuesday unveiled its "Mixed Bundle" envelope-free ATM, which enables bank customers to insert a mixture of up to 50 checks or 50 bank notes at one time into the ATM's single deposit-acceptance slot. The company introduced the ATM at the BAI Retail Delivery Conference in Orlando, Fla. "This innovation has allowed us to increase our lead over our competitors and offer bank customers an even better service with the new technology," Alan Walsh, Wincor Nixdorf USA's sales director, said in a statement. Currently, bank customers making envelope-free ATM deposits must separate checks and bank notes and deposit them into the ATMs' separate deposit-accepting slots. Wincor Nixdorf USA promoted the ATM by mailing to nearly 1,000 attendees at the BAI conference fake bank notes and fake checks with the MICR, or Magnetic Ink Character Recognition line. The banking industry adopted the MICR line to facilitate check processing. Wincor Nixdorf enclosed the fake money into an envelope that said, "You Mix and We Match," Chad Wagner, Wincor Nixdorf USA's director of marketing, tells ATM&Debit News, a CardLine Global sister publication. The company invited recipients of the mail promotion to visit Wincor Nixdorf's booth to test the machine, Wagner says. Wincor Nixdorf USA expects to pilot the ATM with San Francisco-based Wells Fargo & Co. sometime next year, Wagner says.
