Wirecard and Amadeus IT Group Launch Partnership

Customers who use Amadeus IT Group's payment transaction management technology will soon have access to processing services by Wirecard.

The partnership between the two companies aims to simplify payment processing for Amadeus clients in the global travel industry, according to a March 3 press release.

"We are extremely pleased to strengthen our relationship with a leading provider such as Wirecard, whose global payment solutions complement our constant expansion in the travel and tourism payment arena, while adding value to our customers worldwide, Celia Pereiro, head of travel payments at Amadeus, says in the release.

The Munich-based Wirecard announced in January that its mobile wallet for wireless payments now includes Bluetooth Low Energy, an alternative to Near Field Communication for contactless payments. Bluetooth Low Energy technology can transmit data between mobile devices and point of sale systems at a distance of up to 33 feet.
