Wirecard has made its boon mobile wallet available in Spain and Ireland.
The app for Android smartphones allows consumers to make payments at any point of sale terminal that accepts contactless payments through MasterCard. Since November, boon has been available in Germany, Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Boon operates through a digital prepaid MasterCard that Wirecard issues. The boon account is funded through bank or credit card transfers. Wirecard plans to expand the product's functions to add loyalty offers and services including microcredits and P2P payments, according to its Dec. 17 press release.
