Rodney Drake has spent over two decades on the front lines of financial services — building products, driving growth, and solving complex problems in banking and fintech.
That foundation was built over a decade at KeyBank, where Drake rose from business banker to VP of Consumer & Small Business Strategy, leading initiatives in workplace banking, financial education, and underserved markets.
Today, as Chief Strategy Officer at VALID Systems, he helps banks move faster than fraud — delivering AI-powered decisioning that's precise, predictive, and built for today's risk landscape. Working with the nation's largest financial institutions, fintechs, community banks, and credit unions, Drake and his team give FIs the tools to say yes with confidence: instant funds availability, fraud-resistant transactions, and smarter account liquidity strategies backed by advanced ML models and real-time analytics.
A member of the Forbes Technology Council, Drake lives in Cleveland, OH with his wife, their four children, and two dogs.
Nanie Funakura is VP of Product Management at VALID Systems, where she bridges business strategy, product development, and go-to-market messaging. She brings more than 20 years of experience in consumer deposits, digital banking, and portfolio management.
Most recently, Funakura served as Vice President, Consumer Deposits Strategy Manager at Jenius Bank – SMBC MANUBANK, where she launched Jenius Savings and led portfolio performance strategy. Prior to that, she spent 17 years at Wells Fargo Bank, managing mass-market consumer deposit products including the Everyday Checking portfolio and leading the launch of Clear Access Banking.
Funakura is based in the San Francisco Bay Area (San Mateo, CA).
