TUMWATER, Wash. – O Bee CU is celebrating the grand opening of its West Olympia branch through Feb. 25 with a drawing for a family vacation for four to Disneyland and a half-carat diamond pendant.

PHILADELPHIA – American Heritage FCU will replace Citizens Bank in a local ShopRite store, after the bank decided to close the in-store branch.

SAINT JOSEPH, Mich. – Honor CU said it opened a Chieftain Student CU branch inside the Dowagiac Middle School yesterday, which will be run by eighth graders.

WATERLOO, Iowa – The City Council voted to purchase an Iowa Community CU branch for $814,000, to clear the way for construction of a planned $23-million indoor Cedar Valley SportsPlex.

COLONIE, N.Y. – CapCom FCU has filed an application with town officials to build a new four-story headquarters.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT FCU, which serves the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, said it has renewed its lease on a 16,573-square-foot office building at 700 Technology Square.

CAPE CHARLES, Va. – NMA FCU said it plans to open a branch office on the first floor of the Cape Charles Blue Hotel by March 1.

SAN ANTONIO – Security Service FCU opened a new 5,000-square-foot branch in New Braunfels, the credit union giant’s first location in the area.

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Hometown CU opened the state’s first in-school, student-run credit union branch in Owatonna High School.

MILWAUKEE – University of Wisconsin CU plans to open a branch in nearby West Allis, on the site of a former Blockbuster store.

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Eastman CU plans to open a new branch location in the Fresh Market shopping center in Johnson City.

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. – Teachers FCU, Long Island’s biggest credit union, opened its new headquarters and branch to the public last week.

RENTON, Wash. – Alaska USA FCU announced it is opening its first branches in Olympia and Port Orchard, giving the $4.7-billion Anchorage, Alaska-based credit union 19 branches in Washington.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Secure First CU lost at least half its roof and at least one other credit union was temporarily without power here yesterday after severe storms that killed at least two people and injured more than 100 moved across central Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee early Monday morning. One credit union employee also lost their home.

ORONO, Maine – University CU and town officials signed a formal agreement to redevelop a downtown site that once was home to the historic Katahdin Building.

BURTON, Mich. – Five more credit unions have agreed to settle pending civil suits alleging they violated the Electronic Funds Transfer Act’s fee disclosure provisions, but at least one of the settlements is raising questions about the more than three dozen suits filed against credit unions and banks by a Michigan retiree and her boyfriend.

MANCHESTER, N.H. – St. Mary’s Bank, the nation’s oldest credit union, is shutting down online banking, telephone banking and voicemail service this weekend while it moves to a new operations center.
