MILWAUKEE – University of Wisconsin CU plans to open a branch in nearby West Allis, on the site of a former Blockbuster store.

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Eastman CU plans to open a new branch location in the Fresh Market shopping center in Johnson City.

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. – Teachers FCU, Long Island’s biggest credit union, opened its new headquarters and branch to the public last week.

RENTON, Wash. – Alaska USA FCU announced it is opening its first branches in Olympia and Port Orchard, giving the $4.7-billion Anchorage, Alaska-based credit union 19 branches in Washington.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Secure First CU lost at least half its roof and at least one other credit union was temporarily without power here yesterday after severe storms that killed at least two people and injured more than 100 moved across central Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee early Monday morning. One credit union employee also lost their home.

ORONO, Maine – University CU and town officials signed a formal agreement to redevelop a downtown site that once was home to the historic Katahdin Building.

MANFIELD, Texas – Texas Trust CU is opening a new branch in Grand Prairie in a building formerly occupied by Wachovia, a now defunct bank.

BURTON, Mich. – Five more credit unions have agreed to settle pending civil suits alleging they violated the Electronic Funds Transfer Act’s fee disclosure provisions, but at least one of the settlements is raising questions about the more than three dozen suits filed against credit unions and banks by a Michigan retiree and her boyfriend.

MANCHESTER, N.H. – St. Mary’s Bank, the nation’s oldest credit union, is shutting down online banking, telephone banking and voicemail service this weekend while it moves to a new operations center.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Empower FCU said it sold its branch in nearby Big Flats, N.Y., to Elmira Savings Bank.

NEWARK, Del. – Community Powered FCU will break ground on a new headquarters and retail branch project later this month on Route 40 in Bear.

CINCINNATI – Emery FCU said it closed its downtown branch after First Financial Bancorp, the building’s owner, declined to renew its lease.

FARMINGVILLE, N.Y. – Teachers FCU, which moved into a new headquarters in nearby Hauppauge in November, has sold its old offices here for $4.6 million.

RALEIGH, N.C.-As Coastal FCU members ring in the New Year, they can also toast the fact that the CU has completed its deployment of video tellers, allowing it to serve members from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days per week.

SAN FRANCISCO—San Francisco FCU is opening a branch, appropriately enough, in this city’s Financial District.

FORT LEWIS, Wash. – America’s CU has relocated its Lacey branch into a former Citizens Bank office.

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. – Kinecta FCU said it relocated its Midwest mortgage operations center from Rosemont, Ill., to Chicago.

HARTFORD, Conn. – Nutmeg State FCU gave one person a two-minute run to collect all the groceries they want at a Price Shopper store to celebrate the opening of the credit union’s new branch there.

FAIRFAX, Va. – Apple FCU opened a new student-run branch in Tuscarora High School in Leesburg, Va., the credit union’s 33rd in-school branch.
