Mahtani has worked in the banking industry since 1996, with stints at Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and Citi.

Wolverton, who has been at Synovus since 2003, has made it a point to hire women to senior leadership positions, and the majority of her direct reports are women.

As general counsel, Patterson leads roughly 1,300 attorneys and legal professionals across the bank. She was formerly the general counsel at TD Bank Group. 

Murali was hired in February 2020 as M&T's first-ever chief customer experience officer, a role that was recently expanded to include employee experience.
