COMERICA BANK-California, San Jose, said Patricia N. Lowell, president of the bank and executive vice president of its parent company, Comerica California Inc., is retiring from both positions effective July 5.

Ms. Lowell will remain a director of the corporation and the bank.

Comerica California Inc. is a subsidiary of the Detroit-based Comerica Inc.

On July 5, an office of the chairman will be established within Comerica Bank-California.

Jack W. Conner will continue as chairman of Comerica Bank-California and president and chief executive officer of Comerica California Inc.

In addition, J. Michael Fulton takes on the role of president and chief executive officer of the bank. He also will remain executive vice president of Comerica California Inc.

Walter T. Kaczmarek will be chief operating officer of the bank and executive vice president of both the bank and Comerica California Inc.

TOKAI BANK of California, Los Angeles, said Takamochi Okudaira has joined the president's office as senior vice president.

He fills the position vacated by Tatsuro Suzuki, who is returning to Japan.

Before joining Tokai Bank of California, Mr. Okudaira was assigned to the international credit division of the parent, Tokai Bank Ltd., in Tokyo as senior credit administrator.

BANK OF AMERICA, Los Angeles, said Christine Newman Garvey has been named executive vice president and director of the bank's unit for other real estate owned sales and property management.

Her unit handles the sale of properties acquired through foreclosures and deeds in lieu of foreclosure.
