Fiserv launches personnel service for banks.

The bank systems firm Fisew Inc. announced that it has began offering apersonal service.

The service will enable financial institutions to hand over all their institutions a hand over all their human resources actiities to Fserv, saving 20% to 35% of the cost of performing these functions in house, said Glenn Whalen, a Fiserv vice president.

Service offered include payroll, human resources, and benefit processing, as well as systems integration consulting. The announcement was made at an American Bankers Association technolgy conference this week in San Francisco.

Leveraging Their Expertise

Mr. Whalen said the new outsourcing offerings leverage facilities and expertise gained from a 1991 contract to process payroll and maintain personal files for Citcrop's employees worldwide, a deal that followed Fiserv's purchase of Citicorp information Services, a competing outsourcing and bank software firm earlier in 1991.

Fiserv also announced that it has developed a PC-based corporate cash management system compatible with its Comprehensive Banking System, core accounting software that runs on IMB AS/400 midrange computers.

Using a modem-equipped PC running Microsoft Corp.'s Windows operating system, a bank's corporate clients can obtain balances, order currency, and transfer funds with the new softwaqre, Fiserv officials said.
