Card briefs: Marine Midland to Offer MasterCard Debit Product

BUFFALO - Marine Midland Bank said it will be issuing MasterCard- branded debit products, including the off-line Marine MasterMoney card, which allows cardholders to make purchases wherever MasterCard is accepted.

In addition, Marine Midland became the 1,000th bank to join MasterCard's Maestro program. The Maestro logo is being added to MarineCard, the bank's standard automated teller machine card, so that cardholders can use their personal identification numbers to make purchases at some 80,000 merchants in the United States.

Marine Midland Bank, which has $19 billion in assets, is a subsidiary of HSBC Holdings.

Both cards continue to carry the logos indicating participation in the NYCE, Cirrus, GlobalAccess, and MarineMachine networks. Through GlobalAccess, the HSBC Group's proprietary ATM network, Marine Midland customers can access their accounts at more than 250,000 ATMs in more than 89 countries.
