Card Briefs: Sprint Is Using EDS For Phone-Card Plan

MORRIS PLAINS, N.J. - The electronic commerce division of Electronic Data Systems Corp. has signed a contract with Sprint Corp., the telecommunications company, to deliver long-distance telephone cards through automated teller machines.

An initial pilot will involve 75 ATMs in the Washington area, according to an EDS spokesman.

Rather than deliver an actual telephone card, EDS will be printing the personal identification number and calling instructions on an ATM receipt.
