Chase Hires J.M. Franklin For Global Oil And Gas Group

Chase Manhattan Corp., New York, has hired Jonathan M. Franklin as a managing director of its global oil and gas group.

He will be based in London and will be responsible for clients in the United Kingdom and other European countries. He reports to John Knight, head of Chase's oil and gas group in Europe.

Mr. Franklin, who joined Chase Manhattan in August 1995, was a senior M&A adviser for the bank's natural resources group and was also head of the energy unit of Chase's financial advisory department.

In addition, Chase hired Kenneth Wang as the head of the Latin American initiative of its global chemical industries group.

Mr. Wang was a director at CS First Boston, heading advisory teams for the privatization of Argentina's petrochemical complexes and divestitures of industrial chemical assets in Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico.
