Card Briefs: DataCard Has Low-End Personalization System

DataCard Corp. has introduced the DataCard 7000 system, a card personalization system for low-volume users that issue cards centrally.

It offers many of the same functions as the higher-end DataCard 9000 but is more affordable for companies that issue 100,000 to a million cards a year.

The new system can print three-quarter-inch color photos, text, signatures, and bar codes. It can encode magnetic stripes of both high and low coercivity. Other printing features include smart chip encoding, holographic coating, embossed characters, and security indents.

The system does not include expanded functions such as custom picture printing and card delivery, but can be upgraded to include them.
