Crestar Bank, Baltimore, has recruited First Union executive J. Scott  Wilfong as president of its Maryland regional office. 
Crestar Bank is a subsidiary of Richmond, Va.-based Crestar Financial  Corp. 
  
Mr. Wilfong will be responsible for consumer, commercial, and small  business activities in Maryland. He starts his new job Monday, succeeding   William A. Wycoff, who announced earlier that he would resign for family   reasons.     
Mr. Wilfong was senior vice president and commercial division manager  for Maryland with First Union National Bank, Baltimore, a subsidiary of   First Union Corp. He was executive vice president with First Fidelity Bank   before First Union acquired it last year.     
  
First Union promoted vice president Chris McComish to succeed Mr.  Wilfong. The job is the same, managing relationships with businesses with   at least $20 million in sales, but the title is different: senior vice   president of corporate banking for Maryland.     
Mr. McComish has been responsible for smaller businesses. Before moving  to Baltimore last year was a vice president in corporate and commercial   banking in Fayetteville, N.C.
