Fiduciary Trust Company International has elected a former U.S. ambassador and an MTV executive to its board of directors.

Ambassador Nicholas Platt, president of the Asia Society, and Elinor H. Hirschhorn, senior vice president of business development at MTV Networks, were named to Fiduciary's board last Wednesday.

New York-based Fiduciary Trust manages $35 billion of assets for corporations, academic institutions, foundations, government entities, and international organizations as well as for wealthy families and individuals.

"Elinor and Nick will bring years of international affairs, business, and media experience which will further strengthen our distinguished board," said chairman Lawrence S. Huntington in a prepared statement.

Mr. Platt accompanied President Nixon on his 1972 trip to China and was U.S. ambassador to Pakistan, the Philippines, and Zambia. He also was a political officer in Hong Kong, Beijing, and Tokyo.

Ms. Hirschhorn, who was a Luce Scholar in Thailand, directs international development for Viacom Inc., MTV's parent.
