First Union's President Gets Additional Title

First Union Corp. gave president John R. Georgius the additional title of chief operating officer on Tuesday and named two other executives vice chairmen of the $235 billion-asset company. Mr. Georgius, 54, takes on a position which was previously unfilled.

In addition, First Union elevated G. Kennedy Thompson, 47, and Charles L. Coltman 3d, 55, from executive vice president to vice chairmen.

Mr. Thompson is responsible for global capital markets, while Mr. Coltman oversees international banking. - Carey Gillam
