Hamburger Sparkasse, the largest savings bank in Germany, has chosen TrueRelease software to manage the upgrade of applications in its core banking system, True Software Inc. announced.
The system will control the distribution, installation, and management of software and upgrades across 250 Windows NT servers at the $30 billion- asset institution.

Hamburger Sparkasse had chosen Tivoli Systems to provide a distribution mechanism for its enterprise applications. But the bank had to take further measures to "ensure mission-critical systems suffer minimal downtime," said Rolf Wassill, its information technology director.
"There was no way we could manually manage the process of packaging the components of different applications for different sets of users for each platform and also ensure we had checked for eventual conflicts between new and old applications," Mr. Wassill said.

"TrueRelease has helped us automate this process and means that we can deploy applications faster."
