In Brief: Oppenheimer Opens Credit Products School

CIBC Oppenheimer has set up a school that focuses on the new computer software products designed to measure default risks in a portfolio of loans.

The Credit Products Institute will offer small interactive seminars on such concepts as applying modern portfolio management techniques to credit portfolios, credit risk pricing, and the effective use of credit derivatives to manage balance sheets.

The seminars are a response to the flood of computer programs released by Wall Street trading banks and other vendors that are aiming to build the market for credit derivatives.
