Short Takes: Wilmington Trust Eyes Further Pa. Expansion

Delaware's Wilmington Trust Corp. plans to move deeper into the Pennsylvania private banking market by opening two more offices at undetermined sites there this year, a spokesman said.

Wilmington Trust, which has $100 billion of assets under administration and $33 billion under management, opened a private-client office in Haverford, Pa., in July and one in downtown Philadelphia in 1995. Haverford is a wealthy suburb along Montgomery County's Main Line.

Through commercial banking referrals from its Pennsylvania subsidiary, the company has provided trust and investment management in the state before, but it is now taking a more direct approach. Wilmington is looking to set up another office in Montgomery County and is also eying Bucks County for expansion.
