Oversight Panel to Examine CRE Market

The Congressional Oversight Panel will hold a hearing with regulators Friday about the state of the commercial real estate market.

The Capitol Hill hearing will examine the impact of CRE lending on bank stability and the Troubled Asset Relief Program. (The oversight panel was created by Congress to monitor the success of Tarp.)

Witnesses include Sandra Thompson, director of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.'s division of supervision and consumer protection; Patrick Parkinson, director of the Federal Reserve Board's division of banking supervision and regulation; and David Wilson, deputy comptroller for credit market risk at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
