Citigroup Signs Card Deal with Retailer Group BrandSource

Citigroup Inc. has reached a long-term agreement to provide credit services for the retailer coalition BrandSource.

Through the new program, Citigroup will offer credit cards to people who shop at more than 4,500 small businesses represented by BrandSource. The Anaheim, Calif., company is a purchasing group for stores that sell equipment including appliances, electronics, bedding and home furnishings.

Citigroup recommitted to its retailer credit card business last fall, after failing to sell the unit. The company renamed it Citi Retail Services in December.

The third-largest U.S. bank by assets has signed or renewed several private-label card agreements in recent months, including deals with Citgo Petroleum Corp., Sunoco Inc. and Sears Holdings Corp.
