Wallis State Bank has expanded beyond the Houston area to open its first full-service branch in Dallas.
The $368 million-asset bank opened the branch on April 29, Daniel Pigott, the bank's chief financial officer, told the Houston Business Journal. He said the bank had opened a loan-production office in the city late last year.
"For the last couple of years, we've been looking for opportunities to get into the Dallas market — and then, we just decided to open a branch there," Pigott told the publication. "We see it as a natural movement. … It's a very vibrant market, and we plan to grow in it."
Wallis State is based just outside of Houston, where is has five branches, according to June 30 data from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. It also has a branch in San Antonio.
