First South in N.C. Expands in Outer Banks

First South Bank in Washington, N.C., has replaced a small outpost with a new full service banking office in the greater Outer Banks area.

The $707 million-asset First South Bancorp said in a press release Tuesday that it has relocated its limited banking office in Nags Head with a larger branch in Kill Devil Hills.

The new branch opened Monday in the Seagate North Shopping Center where the bank expects to get greater visibility. The new branch has a drive-up ATM, two drive-thru customer service lanes, safe deposit boxes and a commercial night depository, the company said.

The goal is to market loan and deposit products to local businesses, professionals, mortgage customers, and individual clients, in line with "the needs of our growing customer base in the greater Outer Banks and Dare County market area," said Skipper Hines, First South Bank senior vice president and area executive.

The branch is operated by a staff of five, including Hines and Linda Algood, who serves as branch manager.

Established in 1902, First South Bank runs 26 full service branch offices in North Carolina.
