BBVA Compass (BBVA) in Birmingham has added payroll services to the online banking platform it offers small business owners.

BBVA Compass (BBVA) of Birmingham, Ala., has opened two new banking centers in The Woodlands, Texas, a fast-growing suburb of Houston.
The new branches are in Terramont Village and Alden Bridge, two high-traffic neighborhoods of The Woodlands, according to a company release.
The Woodlands' population has roughly doubled over the last 15 years, to about 108,000 residents, and the suburb is home to roughly 1,900 employers.
The expansion "better positions us to serve more of the area's residents," many of whom are foreign nationals employed by the energy companies that are based in The Woodlands, said Amos McDonald, North Houston retail executive for BBVA Compass.
The $71.7 billion-asset BBVA Compass, which is wholly owned by Spanish banking giant Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, operates 685 branches in the South, including 350 in Texas.
